Dry type transformers are used to decrease the medium voltage (3.3 -36 kV ) to low voltage level (≤ 1000 V). Its design for indoor & Outdoor installations according to IEC 60076-1 standard. Cast resin transformers are constructed with their HV windings encapsulated in resin , Apart from being oil-free, all components of dry-type transformers are in solid form; they do not have flash points, nor do they require bushings. Thus, major causes of fire and oil-spillage are eliminated. Moreover, the total cost of ownership for dry-type transformers is much lower due to lower cost of installation and no need of fire suppression system.

The objective of a dry-type transformer (as opposed to a standard oil-type transformer) is to offer an increased level of fire safety while ensuring total reliability in service. Dry-type transformers thus provide increased protection for people and the environment with reliability comparable to that of transformers immersed in standard mineral oil. These transformer ranges are mostly preferred at city transmission lines, industrial facilities and power plants. The production standard involves power ratings up to 5 MVA and insulation classes up to 17.5 kV. Solutions with different features can be realized as custom request.
